Haulin’ Notes Episode 22: REMsafe Sleep

Welcome to episode 22 of Haulin' Notes! This month’s guest is Brad Mader, Commercial Business Developer for REMsafe Sleep, a subsidiary of Lincare. Brad has been with the company for the past 14 years working with sleep apnea. Prior to his time at RemSafe, Brad was a local truck driver for 16 years. His infamous motto is, “saving lives and marriages one CPAP at a time!”

REMsafe focuses on diagnosing and treating drivers who have fatigue leading to sleep disorder and breathing issues. They offer a very easy, manageable process that makes it convenient for their partnerships in implementing a sleep management program. In our conversation with Brad, we discuss the dangers of sleep apnea and how to safely manage driver fatigue on the road.

Haulin’ Notes Episode No. 18: Winter Driving

Welcome to episode 18 of Haulin' Notes! This month, Bob Perew, Senior Loss Control Specialist at Canal, is joined by Scott Fleming, District Coordinator of the Indiana State Police Motor Carrier Enforcement Division, for our first episode of 2022.

Scott has been with the Indiana State Police for about 34 years serving in many capacities with the Motor Carrier Enforcement Division. He has been very instrumental in ensuring that the trucks that travel on our nation’s highways are safe and compliant. Scott has also participated in many safety meetings around the state of Indiana and teaching drivers to inspect their trucks properly.

In this episode, Bob and Scott will discuss the dangers of winter driving, and how to stay safe on the roads this winter.

Welcome to episode 14 of the Haulin’ Notes Podcast by Canal Insurance Company!

This week, Bob Perew, Senior Loss Prevention Specialist at Canal, is joined by Annie Anderson, Health and Wellbeing Consultant- Registered Dietitian at Prisma Health, to talk about the importance of driver fitness and health.

Annie is a board-certified specialist in obesity and weight management, and has worked as a research associate and registered dietitian at the Center of Integrated Oncology and Survivorship before joining the Business Health Team. She has been with Prisma Health’s Business Health since 2017 and has loved every minute of it. Annie loves all things food, dogs, running, and sharing nutrition knowledge with others.

While taking weeks or even month long trips, there are lifestyle changes that truck drivers need to follow in order to stay fit. It’s important for truck drivers to ask themselves “How do I stay healthy on the road?” For some, maintaining a healthy lifestyle can be challenging because they may not have the resources that people in other professions have, but that’s not to say that living a healthy life as a truck driver isn’t possible. Annie shares ten ways you can stay healthy while on the road, along with the importance of making small, healthy choices each day. We also discuss how you can optimize your driver fitness basic score.
